Delhi Weather Forecast Keeps Capital Dry Before Rain Returns

Delhi is likely to remain relatively dry on Saturday, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting no significant weather warning for the capital even as rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds affect several other parts of India. Rainfall activity over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi is expected to increase from October 6 and continue into October 7.

The latest forecast indicates isolated to scattered rainfall across parts of central, eastern, northeastern, western and southern India on Saturday. Kerala, Karnataka, Odisha, West Bengal, Maharashtra and several southern states are expected to receive showers, while some areas may also experience lightning and strong winds.

For Delhi-NCR, the IMD has not issued a significant warning for Saturday. The capital and surrounding areas are expected to remain largely dry, with rainfall activity likely to become more noticeable from October 6. Haryana and Chandigarh are included in the same forecast window.

The forecast also indicates limited rainfall activity over Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. Isolated to scattered showers are expected over parts of Odisha, while the wet spell in the state is likely to continue through October 7. Bihar and Jharkhand may receive isolated to scattered rainfall from October 5, although no significant rainfall warning has been indicated for Saturday.

Gangetic West Bengal is likely to see showers, with the region having recorded heavy rain at isolated places during the previous 24-hour period. Dum Dum in North 24 Parganas recorded 8 cm of rainfall during that period, according to the forecast details reported by Times of India.

Across the Northeast, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may receive isolated to scattered rainfall on Saturday. The IMD has also forecast isolated thunderstorms and lightning over parts of the region, with isolated heavy rainfall possible over Arunachal Pradesh on October 2. Rainfall activity across the Northeast is expected to continue through October 7.

Chhattisgarh is likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall through October 7, while East Madhya Pradesh may see rainfall through October 3. Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra are also expected to receive isolated to scattered showers, with intermittent rainfall possible across Maharashtra. No heavy rainfall warning has been indicated for Maharashtra on Saturday in the latest forecast.

Southern India is expected to see more active weather. Kerala and Mahe may receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. Winds in Kerala may reach 30-40 kmph, with gusts up to 50 kmph. Coastal Karnataka is likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, while South Interior Karnataka may see isolated to scattered showers.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may also receive showers, thunderstorms, lightning or gusty winds. Strong surface winds are expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema during October 2-5.

The IMD has forecast a broader continuation of rainfall into the first week of October. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad may receive isolated to scattered rainfall on October 6-7, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may see showers from October 5-7. Kerala and Mahe are expected to remain under a fairly widespread to widespread rainfall spell through October 7, with isolated heavy rainfall possible between October 4 and 6. South Interior Karnataka may also receive isolated heavy rainfall on October 5.
