Rail operations in eastern Maharashtra have been temporarily reconfigured as infrastructure upgrades at Gondia station disrupt a key long-distance service, highlighting the growing tension between capacity expansion and commuter convenience. Railway officials have indicated that multiple services in the corridor are either cancelled, diverted, or partially terminated during the construction window. The Vidarbha Express, which normally connects Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus with Gondia via Nagpur, plays a significant role in linking smaller towns to major economic centres.
